Even as Kollywood topper Asin is bound for Bollywood, Bollywood beauty Bhumika Chawla is set to stage a comeback in Kollywood!
Model-turned actress, Bhumika has been signed up for SJ Surya's ‘Jillenru Oru Kaathal’ as the second heroine. The other heroine is, of course, Surya's girl friend, Jyothika .
Bhumika is in because Asin opted out of ‘Jillenru Oru Kaathal’. Reports have it that Asin was not happy about the way her role was shaping up. Despite persuasions of the director, Asin is said to have excused herself out of the project, says the buzz.
Well, Asin's loss is Bhumika's bonus. Ms Chawla had been wanting to be back in Kollywood, in any case. As dame luck would have it, she has now got that chance, thanks to Asin's angst.
Bhumika made her Kollywood debut in Producer Oscar Ravichandran's ‘Rojakkoottam’, which went on to become a super-duper hit. However, the expected boom in her career did not materialise.
So, Ms Chawla migrated to Telugu cinema, where she struck a purple patch. The beautiful heroine managed to act in as many as 10 films in Tollywood. And seven out of the ten proved to be hits.
Her latest film with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi ‘Jai Chiranjeeva’ is set for release in the third week of December.
Meanwhile, she started getting offers from Bollywood in the wake of her phenomenal run in Telugu films. Bhumika accepted the offers with alacrity and was back in Bollywood in no time.
However, the cute Chawla girl continued to nurse a desire to act in Tamil films. So, when Surya got in touch for a role in ‘Jillenru Oru Kaathal’, Bhumika did not think twice.
The bold belle hopes it will be boom time in her second innings in Kollywood!
All strength to your elbow, Bhumika!
Call her a seedhi-saadhi Punjabi
kudi or Miss Congeniality, monikers don't faze her. She's undeterred by criticism and praise. Bhumika Chawla, in a way, breaks the norms. She is simple, doesn't mingle with her ilk.
She says, 'If you track my career so far, I’ve been selective. I've worked with directors I've believed in. It's not always about working with the topline actors and filmmakers, because you never know what works and what doesn't. At the end of the day, you should be satisfied with what you've done.
Down south, I've won three Nandi Awards. It’s like what Aamir Khan does. A few but good films. Of course, he's on a higher level. It's like someone running a race, if he or she stops to catch up with some breath, has fears that someone else may race ahead. I don’t want that fear to come to me.
She has never hidden her contented relationship
