HYDERABAD: The District Selection Committee – 2008 aimed at recruiting around 25,000 teachers will be notified shortly.
A major chunk of the new posts will be of school assistants of whom about 16,500 would be appointed in the high schools while the rest would be teachers. The work on issuance of the notification has already commenced and the School Education department is considering the vacancies arising up to December 31 this year, according to School Education department principle secretary C.B.S. Venkataramana.
The requirement arose after the government gave its approval for modernising high schools that would result in creation of 16,500 additional sections, he said addressing a press conference here on Wednesday. The department was contemplating reforms in apprentice teachers and had two options either to substantially increase the amount being paid to them or abolish the posts and regularise their services.
Mr. Venkataramana said the government was considering introduction of pre-primary sections in all primary schools by making Anganwadi workers responsible for running classes with additional remuneration. Proposals were also underway to merge all the primary schools within one kilometre radius so that strength of students would increase.
The Government had taken a policy decision to allow students of unrecognised schools and private candidates to write examinations only through government/zilla parishad/municipal schools. Results of the SSC examinations were likely to be announced in May first week.
Examinations for about 690 students who could not take the recently concluded exams would be held from April 25.
Students who fail the examination would be allowed to appear for the supplementary examination to be held in June first week.
SSC applications onlineThe submission of applications for SSC examinations is all set to go online. The School Education department will accept all the applications of Std. X students online from the next academic year.
Students need to open the application that would be hosted on the net, fill it up under the guidance of their teachers and forward it. Students need to take a print out of the filled in application form that would be sent to the State headquarters after attestation by the respective principals, School Education department principle secretary C.B.S. Venkataramana said.
